Quickly and easily document the workflow(Windows 7)

Explaining the operating sequence in a program is a very time-consuming task. You’ll often want to attach screenshots to explain certain instances. You may also need to edit these photos before adding them to your document.
Windows 7 has the problem recorder ready for this purpose. This tool documents workfl ow, so that in case of inconsistencies, you can forward these to the support team. You even have an option to document specifi c workfl ows. Launch the tool by clicking on ‘Start’ and type ‘psr’ (Problem Steps Recorder) in the search fi eld. Windows displays the ‘psr.exe’ entry in the following window. Simply clicking on the option starts the program. The tool simply consists of a list of symbols. Click on ‘Start recording’ and execute the respective actions. The problem recorder comments on every step with a screenshot and small description. The tool compiles pictures in full screen mode and marks the relevant areas with a green frame. To add additional notes, select ‘Add comments’, whereby a ‘Mark and comment problem’ dialog box appears. During this step, the system overshadows the remaining screen. To begin with, use the mouse to draw a frame around the elements you wish to comment on. Subsequently, enter your comments in the entry fi eld of ‘Mark and comment problem’ and confirm the action with ‘OK’. In the end, select ‘End recording’. Now, in the ‘Save as’ dialog box specify the memory location and the fi le name for the recording. The problem recorder saves it in a Zip file. This archive incorporates the actual recording as an MHT file (MIME Encapsulation of Aggregate HTML Documents), a special text format for storing text and pictures in one file. You can open MHT fi les in Internet Explorer or Microsoft Word.
NOTE: If you wish to open the file with Firefox, you must fi rst install the Mozilla Archive Format add-on.
