Directly opening the system folder(Windows XP, Vista, 7)

By Saturday, February 11, 2012 , , No comments
Numerous system folders are hidden deep inside the jungle called the fi le system. To open these, one must patiently manoeuvre through the thickly interlaced folder structure.
In most cases, these are system directories. There are shortcuts, which directly open the desired fi le. They all share one thing in common - they all use the ‘shell:’ command. As a parameter, they must contain the suffi x of the desired folder. For example, ‘shell:sendto’ (Important: Do not enter a space after the colon symbol). In the Windows version, you can use this command in various locations. For example, you can use it within the ‘Run’ menu of Windows XP or directly in the address bar of Windows Explorer. In Windows Vista and Windows 7, you can directly use it in the search fi eld of the start menu. The activated system folder opens immediately on pressing [Enter]. TIP: The shell command automatically takes into consideration the diff erent memory locations of the folder within the directory structure. Thereby, you can access the desired folder, even when, for instance, you are helping somebody confi gure his/her PC with a diff erent version of Windows. The table displays a list of most popular system folders.
