When sifting through the directory
structure on the right-hand side of
Windows explorer, the tree structure
displayed on the left-hand side of the
navigation remains unchanged. You can
easily change this.
In order to allow Windows to adjust the tree structure to highlight the currently open folder in Windows Explorer, go to ‘Organize | Folder and search options’. In the ‘Folder options’ dialog box, in the ‘General’ tab, check ‘Automatically expand to the current folder’ option, and confirm with ‘OK’.
NOTE: Above that option, you’ll see the ‘Show all folders’ option, once you activate it, Windows stops showing separate icons for ‘Favorites’, ‘Libraries’, ‘Home network groups’, ‘My Computer’ as well as ‘Network’ and instead only shows ‘Favorites’ and ‘Desktop’. Moreover, the operating system now also shows CD ROM, DVD and removable storage drives.
