When you start the Windows Media
Center, the application menu opens
fi rst. You can call up a particular
function here. However, since you
exclusively use the Media Center for
your videos or music, you want the
video or music library to open fi rst
instead.
Using parameters that you additionally transfer during a call-up, you can instruct Windows Media Center to automatically start a particular view. First create a new shortcut on the desktop. For this, right-click on the free space and then open ‘New | Shortcut’. A wizard starts. In the fi rst step, enter the name of the application along with the path: ‘%windir%\ehome\ehshell.exe’.
The operating system now replaces ‘%windir%’ with the Windows installation directory. After a space, add one of the following parameters - ‘/ directmedia:discplayback’ immediately plays an inserted CD or DVD; ‘/ directmedia:video’ shows the video library when the Media Center starts; ‘/ directmedia:pictures’ takes you directly to the library; ‘/directmedia:music’ loads the music library; and ‘/directmedia:general’ exclusively gives the full picture mode. For example, if you want to automatically start the music library, the required command in the wizard would be: %windir%\ehome\ehshell.exe / directmedia:media
Click ‘Next’. On the next screen, give an name to the shortcut and click ‘Finish’.
NOTE: To have direct access to this shortcut, we recommend that you move it to the Start menu or the taskbar.
