IE detects typos when entering a URL
as search terms and forwards them to
Bing. This is annoying and wastes time.
You can disable this function and then instruct the browser to accept search requests only via the search fi eld. For this, select ‘Tools | Internet Options’ in the browser and go to the ‘Advanced’ tab. In the ‘Settings’ fields, scroll right to the bottom. Then in the fi eld ‘Search from the Address Bar’, select ‘Do not display unknown address in case of automatic search’. Confirm the change with ‘Apply’ and ‘OK’. You then see an error page and can correct the spelling in the address bar.
NOTE: IE automatically forwards the input if the entered URL does not exist. The standard search provider is used here, which you can defi ne via the menu command ‘Search Options | Manage Search Provider’ at any time.
