You want to remote control a PC
via Telnet protocol, but calling the
command with the same name in the
input request quits with an error.
Windows 7 does come with a Telnet client, but it is deactivated. To activate it, open the Control Panel and click the ‘Programs’ link. Click ‘Turn Windows features on or off ’ placed towards the top-left of the screen.
Insert a tick mark in the next window in front of the list entry ‘Telnet client’. After you have closed all opened windows with ‘OK’, the change is activated and you can start the client with the command ‘telnet’.
NOTE: Telnet is an abbreviation for Telecommunication Network, the name of a widespread network protocol. It transfers data in clear text and is not particularly secure. If possible, you should use another data transfer procedure, e.g. the Secure-Shell protocol. It is similar, but works in an encoded format.
