If the wireless connection between your
WLAN router and PS3 is poor, wireless
connectivity might be very good when
you use your notebook.
You can use your notebook as a relay station. For this, an Ethernet patch cable is the only hardware you’ll need. Assign an IP address to the network connection so that your PS3 is recognized. For this, go to ‘System control | Network and Internet | Network and sharing centre | Manage network connections’ and right-click on the LAN connection. From the context menu, select ‘Properties’ and confi rm the UAC prompt. Notice the ‘Internet connection version 4’ entry in the window that just popped up. Activate the option ‘Use the following IP address’ and enter the IP ‘192.168.0.1’.
Now, only the WLAN connection needs to be approved. Re-work your way to the ‘Manage Network connection’ point, right-click on the WLAN connection and confirm the UAC prompt. Select the ‘Approve’ tab in the window. Allow access for the Internet connection and click on the protocols stated under ‘Install’.
Finally, you only have to change the setting on the PS3 from ‘WLAN’ to ‘Join cables’ under ‘Network settings | Internet connection’. The PS3 should support the Internet connection when you restart it.
