This happened very quickly: you
actually wanted to change something
in the opened document and save
it under a new name. But you have
overwritten the original instead. Having
a backup helps.
Word itself has a backup option that creates a copy of the document in the same folder every time ‘Save’ is clicked. To activate this features open word and go to ‘Tools | Options’ and navigate to the ‘Save’ tab. Select ‘Always create backup copy’ and you should be done. Before a backup copy is created the document will need to be saved more than once. The document will have the same name as the original but with ‘Back of’ preceding the document name.
